 Zazeal Smokestep

I'm writing out my new char here. 8) Since this is a new char, give me your thoughts on other strengths and weaknesses he could have. Remember he's a minotaur and the owner of the arena. Right now he's completely mundane, but I'm giving him some possibilities to be not-mundane. He IS a minotaur after all, and I sorta want something magical to bubble up in him later on.

Strengths:
Natural:
- Some natural strength, but nothing outlandish.
- Thick skull and powerful ramlike horns protect his head a bit, and makes his headbutts pretty nasty.
- Unlike normal bovines, his teeth are sharp. So his bite would be like that of a carnivorous furre.
- Tough and hardy. He can shrug off stuff that hinders him, like pain and disease, though it'll still take its toll on him! He just can ignore it.

Learned:
- Knows how to brawl. His style is dirty, underhanded, informal, etc. He will BITE you.
- He has a nasty sort of cunning achieved from "living" on the streets as a boy.
- Good at handling wild animals; especially predators.

Supernatural:
- None

Weaknesses:
- Gluttony and greed. He lives his life for wine and women and gold, and he can easily be swayed by such things.
- His dealings are shady at best, and questionably legal. He could easily get on the wrong side of the law.
- His job has a lot of occupational hazards. He regularly handles predators that he's starved and abused to be as mean as possible, after all.
- He isn't book smart. He can read and write (very poorly) but he hates it, and regards all intelligent endeavors as something for sissies, etc.
- Tempermental and quick to follow his emotions, which can get him into hot water.
- Being a big ol' minotaur, he's not very agile.
- Bad swimmer. Hooves make it harder!
- Bad climber. He's a cow, not a goat.

I'm not sure if only mediators are allowed to do this, or if any member can, but I'm going to give it a shot anyway. I figure no one's going to stone me if I do. XD


Strengths:

Natural strength- 3.
Thick skull and horns- 4. That sounds dangerous to me, at least.
Sharp teeth- 1. Unless he has nasty, unclean teeths, then I give it a 5 for deadly tetanus.
-Tough and hardy- 2.
Informal brawling- 3.
Cunning- 4.
Handling animals- 2.

Total:
19

Weaknesses:

Gluttony and greed- 3. Sounds like anyone who knows a lick about him could find a way to manipulate him with these things.
Illegal dealings I give a 4, because dodging the law can be tricky.
Lack of book smarts I give a 1. Most things that it behooves one to read are quite simple. Such as "Danger" and "Poison".
Temperamental I flipflop between 1 and 3, 'cause on the one hand, it could be very dangerous to lose your temper with the wrong person, on the other, how many people are going to take on a minotaur?
Lack of agility I rate 3.
Bad swimmer is a 1 for me 'cause I don't imagine he'd need to swim very often.
Bad climber 1 also.

Total: 14-16

I think that's balanced! I don't feel I've got the system down as well as others, but I tried. :3

Anyone can try rating characters on the forum, Snee! C: Thanks for giving it a shot. A few tips, though--try to think of how greatly these pluses would affect the setting and other characters for strengths, and for weaknesses think of how much the minuses will hamper the character both vs other characters, and in the setting in general.

For example, you gave his skull + horns a 4. It isn't something that affects the continuity at all, and versus another character it's not even on par with a more sensible, wielded weapon. Unarmed, it could be dangerous, though, so I'd rate it at about a 2. Same for his teefs, though I'd put those at 1. 4s and 5s are usually reserved for REALLY major strengths/weaknesses!

I'm so glad you tried the scoring out, though, Snee. Besides a few small things like that you seem to have everything down very well!

And now s'my turn:

STRENGTHS

1. Natural strength's a 1. It's pretty common in SH.
2. Skull + horns would be a 2.
3. Pointy teeths is a 1.
4. Toughness is a 2.
5. Brawlskills is another 2.
6. Cunning is a 3.
7. Animal handling is a 3.

Total: 14

WEAKNESSES

1. Gluttony and greed is a 3.
2. Shady dealings is a 3, too, I think, for the reason Snee mentioned!
3. Occupational hazards are a 2.
4. Lack of booksmurts is a 1.
5. Temperamental is a 2.
6. Lack of agility is a 1.
7. Lack of swimskills is a 3. (What if someone manages to topple him over into the lake?)
8. Lack of climbingskills is a 2.

Total: 17

Oh, okay. Good point about the horns.

However, I was joking about the teeth. Although tetanus is deadly.
