The Skuldhellir Activity Box Empty
PostSubject: The Skuldhellir Activity Box   The Skuldhellir Activity Box EmptyTue Jul 06, 2010 7:20 pm

You've probably noticed the gigantic box you can put words in at the bottom of the page! I've added that in so people can post IC notices and updates pertaining to their characters whenever they so please. Mediators will look at this box often and may occasionally change the text of dynamic NPCs to reflect the information therein to make hooks out of it!

The activity box is not for OOC banter of ANY SORT. That is what the OOC room in the dream and the Hogwash forum are for! DO NOT leave OOC comments in the activity box.

ONLY CHARACTERS THAT HAVE BEEN APPLIED AND APPROVED CAN HAVE UPDATES POSTED ABOUT THEM IN THE ACTIVITY BOX.

Additionally, everyone has the right to know what's in the Skuld Activity Box, so don't ever put anything in there that most of the town wouldn't be aware of. Think about what people would actually pay attention to or take notice of and don't post up anything that only a select few people would know. For things like that, tell a mediator or the players of the characters who WOULD know, and don't use the activity box.

Good examples:

Lauren has been getting rather rowdy in public with her psionics lately.

Joe Smith, a new arrival, has stopped being reclusive and is starting to become a common sight around town.

Edward has lost his pet rock, Snuffles, and has been asking folks around the town if they've seen him.

Bad examples:

Edward has been needing to pee for five hours. FIVE HOURS.

Lauren's been secretly speaking to one of the shifty merchants...

Basically, just use common sense!

The activity feed is NOT Twitter for your characters. Only post up things that many other people would take notice of and react to or comment on IC, whether your character is directly present or not. If your character's new to town, nobody's going to care much if they've been looking sad for the past week--on the other hand, if it's a character that's usually very bright and chipper, and also a common sight to see, then mentioning that they've been looking unusually under the weather would be pertinent!

P.S.: Feel free to post in any color you want to help people associate notices with your character. Just try not to get too obnoxious with them!

Also, the box likes to post log-ins and log-outs. It has a HUGE amount of memory, but with a lot of activity, I will be clearing the box every few days just to keep things tidy, so if your message is cleared without reaction and you feel like it's still pertinent, feel free to post it up again!

EDIT: Log-ins and log-outs don't seem to show up in the Archives, which is great!

By the way: If you can't see earlier messages, just hit that Archives button in the upper righthand corner of the box and it should show all of the messages that've been posted since the last clear.
