| Skuldhellir is getting pretty close to opening. We're making progress on the site, we're working out kinks in our systems, and we're preparing to set down some plots. Most of the continuity has already been fleshed out, but we're missing some key things here: Names!
A lot of places, organizations and NPCs have already been given names or titles, but some of them are still wanting. I've thrown together a list of strong setting factors that've both been named and are still waiting for one, and a list of all of the in-dream NPCs. A question mark means considerable approval hasn't been gained yet and folks are free to suggest other names than the ones listed.
Not all of these have to be filled out for us to get started, but your help would be appreciated!
PLACES & ORGANIZATIONS: -Baertheim, the capital city of the dwarves. -Merlence, the city of magicians. -The Order of Eir, the order that runs the hospital. -The Skuldhellir Miner's Guild -The Skuldhellir Guild of Fighters -The Skuldhellir Branch of the Merlencian Guild of Wizards -The Rambling Greens, the name of the surrounding plains. -The Dread Cliffs, the name of the steep cliffs that surround the town and the Greens beyond. -Elbe, the name of the river.
THINGS: -Magicite, the ore that is being mined. -The cockatrice, a fearsome and mighty beast that prowls the plains and is more terrifying than an orc or a gnoll. -Dragon's bane, a name for the strange blue-green grass that grows around the area.
PEOPLE OF IMPORTANCE (NOT REPRESENTED IN THE DREAM): -Blacktooth the Dread, the infamous, nefarious dragon that used to live in the caves of Skuldhellir. -Doderic Dunglebottom, the mayor. -Hrothgar Starkhammer, guildmaster of the Miners Guild. -Elias Mineol, guildmaster of the Wizards Guild. -Laurent Steiner, owner of the White Door Inn. -Goderic the Immaculate, head of the order that leads the hospital.
NPCS REPRESENTED IN THE DREAM: We need names for pretty much ALL OF THESE. I will only be listing the ones we have named already: -Mary and Fezziwig, two of the bartenders (and the shared owners) of the Porthole Pub. -Sister Dadeen, the mouse in the hospital. -Numbley, the blue wyrmme on the first floor of the Wizards Guild. -Moryna Amli and Hockbrand, the dwarf and human on the second floor of the Wizards Guild. -Gandalf, the wandering gray cat. -Worfred and Rory, the cheetah in the town square and his dog. -Rabeeka, the egg/chicken-selling byrdde in the market square. -Loreletta, the ewe in the town hall. -Gregory Shanksalot, the kitty in the town hall. -Njoren Leifson, the dwarf in the town hall. -Roonaln, the kangaroo at the docks. -Mudbeard, the pirate dwarf at the docks. -Grimdig, the dwarf who keeps an eye on the mine's entrance. -Bloodforge, the redhaired deep dwarf in the mines. -Bessie Battlethunder, the Fighters Guild cow. -Khalim and Imtithal Bashara, the stallion and mare siblings who work in the White Door Inn. -Ellen, the Fighters Guild fox. -Fennigan Bennigan, the shifty fishmonger.

| Cockatrice sounds nice to me, something not often used. Perhaps more then one fearsome beast at times? Basilisks, Cocatrice, perhaps lesser drakes who are drawn to the city by the smell of the former dragon.
The order could probably be named after the deity they worship. Oblivexample: Dibella is the Aedra, the order is. The Order of Dibella. EDIT: Perhaps the Order of Eir. Eir is a norse goddess of healing.
The names of the cliffs, river and perhaps even the plains could refer to notable attributes they posses? For example, a cliff that's shaped like an anvil: Anvil Cliff. Or perhaps an event that took place there in the past. For example if in the river a certain noble lost his favorite socks there. Lost Socks River. (silly example, not a proposal.)

| I approve of the cockatrice and the drakes! Basilisks might be too much for plainsbeasts, but I could easily see them having made their homes in the depths of the caves or craggy refuges among the cliffs.
The Order of Eir it shall be for the hospital folk!
The physical landmarks would probably be named like that, yes--I was looking for suggestions for what exactly they SHOULD be called, and maybe even reasons why. :P

| The strange grass:
Dragon's bane? For some reason I got a most amusing picture of the dwarves spreading around stories about how Blacktooth the Dread made his home in the caves because the grass was very potent to his innards, and he finally left because the grass was trying to encroach on his lair.

| That's... that's awesome. I can imagine people using it as a reason to explain why the dragon never came out except to fly around and ravage from above, and the dwarves have always had a demeaning sense of humor!
There is an actual herb called dragon's bane in most fantasyverses, but I think that makes the fact that grass has been given the same, ominous name even funnier.
People will probably refer to the grass as just 'grass', but having a name for it is fun!
Also, I've been thinking about a name for the hilly plains. I kind of like The Rambling Green(s). Y/N?

| Oh darn I forgot about the other fantasy dragon banes. xD Still, I'm glad you like it! I usually just pull this stuff outta my butt... <3~!!
I like The Rambling Greens. Maybe they got their name because drunk dwarves used to think their friends rambling was the hilly plains doin' it-- *shot*

Two random dwarf names. One could be miner's guild and one the owner of the porthole? Or something?

| For the cliffs perhaps The Dread Cliffs? (after perhaps their dreaded steepness and after the dragon.) The name of the river, perhaps Bluegrass River? (After the blue grass that grows near it in Skuldhellir?) | |

| BLUEGRASS IS A GENRE OF MUSIC THAT EDWARDS LIKE.
Doesn't have much to do with a river though. ); I do like The Dread Cliffs! And also Kinzor's names!
Also, we should probably see if we can't get at least a few of these names to match Skuldhellir itself before we're done--Norse words stuck together that mean something. P: Shit, we could even use Gaelic.

| Lulrins suggested the name 'Elbe' earlier for the river, and I'm kind of leaning towards it, personally!
It's an actual river in Europe and the name purportedly means 'river'. HURR DURR DEEDURR
