Runecaster Mor Empty
PostSubject: Runecaster Mor   Runecaster Mor EmptySat Dec 18, 2010 12:51 am

General:

Alt Name: Runecaster Mor

A brief description of your character: Mor is a weathered old grouch of a troll that hails from the mountains. He's unpleasant, cranky, gruff and callous, but there is a sort of wild sophistication about him that makes him both an interesting and laughably bizarre specimen of his race.

Why/How is your character in Skuldhellir: Having forsaken life with his clan, Mor ventured South and has wandered much of the Rambling Greens and the Dread Cliffs surrounding; it was only a matter of Time before the roads he tread brought him to Skuldhellir.

Magic (OPTIONAL):
---Max Preps (1-10): 10

---Schools:
Rune Magic: 5
Magic involving the invocation of various effects via drawn, carved or etched symbols.

Blood Magic: 5
The manipulation and harnessing of the power of blood.

Strengths:
---Natural:
-Smart and cunning.
-Being a tusked mountain monster whose expression is usually >8[ and standing at 8 feet, Mor is pretty imposing.
-He's also pretty strong by furre standards, even if he's weak by troll ones.
-Heightened hearing and smell.
-Surprisingly spry.
-Berserking; capable of entering a violent blood frenzy if driven to a strong enough emotional extreme. He becomes ignorant of pain and immune to weariness until the frenzy wears off.
-Cold resistance; Mor's particular subspecies of troll is both thick skinned and furry, capable of enduring very low temperatures.

---Learned:
-With age comes wisdom! Mor has seen much of the world on both fronts, in the midst of society and alone in the wilderness, and he is familiar with many things.
-Literacy; Mor's interest in runes and the power of words, letters and symbols has brought him to grow learned in the usage and reading of the Common tongue.
-Accomplished fisherman.
-Good at tracking, hunting and skinning.
-Skilled with daggers, knives and shortbows.
-Fortitude; due to the nature of his magic, Mor has built up a strong resistance to pain.

---Supernatural:
-Runesensing; Mor's acutely honed magical sense allows him to tell if an active rune is nearby.

Weaknesses:
-With age also comes arthritis. Say this to his face, though, and you'll probably regret it.
-Relatedly, he has a number of old injuries scattered all over his body that have a tendency to act up in the face of strenuous exertion.
-Generally unhealthy--he doesn't eat right, he smokes, he rejects medicine, gets little sleep, and refuses to allow himself a period over which to recover after sustaining an injury.
-He's addicted to a substance called Frostweed that grows around the region. When deprived of it, he gets antsy, distracted and even more cranky than usual, and especially long periods without it can make him sick.
-Berserking; while a great asset, it is also dangerous because Mor is physically fragile, and a particularly violent period of berserking might kill him from the overexertion.
-Bad eyes.
-Rather unpleasant; most people don't like grumpyfaces.
-His magic is dependent on blood, usually his own, and casting his spells often involves injuring himself.
-Temperamental. It's not too difficult to accidentally put him into a bad and irrational mood and have no idea how or why.
-He's kind of scary. He's also a troll. It's likely that he'd probably deal with some sort of prejudice--perhaps not from the resident dwarves, but certainly from the non-locals that regularly sail into Skuldhellir.
-Poor.
-Wanderer--he has few possessions and nowhere to actually call home.
-He has a massive ego and a prideful sense of honor. It's easy to provoke or shame him, and when it happens, his default grumpiness usually worsens tenfold. He's also very unlikely to accept sympathy or aid, even when he needs it.
-Adverse reaction to healing magic; though he isn't entirely aware of it, he does not take well to it. It's a price he unintentionally paid when he became so acclimated to magic whose power was drawn from blood. Healing magic not only hurts him--not immediately, but with Time--but it also 'taints' his blood, darkening its color, ruining its connection to magic and making it unusable in spells. This taint exists, weakening and hurting him, until the healing magic completely vanishes from his system.

I had to tweek my numbers a bit (he kind of came out unbalanced initially). However, I've already RP'd with the character, and he's a great one to have around. I approve. Any other thoughts, folks?
