I'm fleshing out Skalla here. :3 I also am considering bearform to be a supernatural strength that gets prepped rather than a school of magic, cuz yeah.
Strengths:
---Natural:
HYBRID FORM
- Strength. Natural from his troll side and ursine influences, but also from years of training.
- Sturdy. Can take many hits before going down.
- Cold resistance due to his troll side and his Northman nature. He still has to bundle up and wear boots, but can generally leave his arms bare with no consequences.
- Some of his bear survival instincts pass into his hybrid form.
- Rather good sense of smell.
BEAR FORM
(These are, unless otherwise noted, just basic bear strengths.)
- Strength. Massive bear strength--but also some extra trollstrength as well.
- Sturdy. Can take many hits before going down.
- Stamina. Can lope/jog long distances before tiring, though not at top speed.
- Cold resistance. Lots of blubber and fur.
- Incredible sense of smell.
- Instincts. He can find food, water, and shelter and pretty much overall survive as a bear, so he has little need for money, usually.
---Learned:
- Smithing. He's a pretty good smith, though definitely not a master. His works are crude and utilitarian with little decoration, though he has a flair for the tribal look.
- Brawling. His main form of fighting is "hand to hand." He skinchanges only his forepaws, so they are the huge claws of a bear. He incorporates bites into this technique as well, which can be very surprising and rough due to his tusks. His strength even lets him go toe to toe with armored opponents, though this is much more difficult.
- Improvised melee. If he can pick it up, he can make a weapon out of it, though with less efficiency than using just his paws.
- Singing. Skallagrim is actually rather musical, and while he lacks the dexterity to play most instruments, he can sing and drum quite well.
- The Madness: A classic berserking technique. When he
- Basic hunting skills. Though he's not the cleanest or most elegant hunter, he can skin and cook his meals and tan the hides.
---Supernatural:
- Can skinchange to and from bear form. It takes 3 preps to fully skinchange, but he can choose to only change parts of his body for fewer preps.
Weaknesses:
- Allergy: felines. This primarily applies to feral cats, and housecats especially, but Skallagrim is allergic to feline anthros as well.
- Shapeshifting limitation: If he stays in either form for too long, he risks getting stuck. For bearform, it gets risky after 8 hours. As the time goes by, he loses more and more of his sentience. If he doesn't turn into bearform at least once every day or so, he loses the ability.
- Shapeshifting limitation: He cannot shift into bearform if he isn't wearing the skin.
- Shapeshifting limitation: If the skin is damaged while he's in hybrid form, his bearform suffers those injuries. Any injuries he himself sustains in either form transfer over.
- Lack of dexterity. After so many years of bearforming, he has incredibly limited use of his fingers.
- Lack of agility. In both forms, but especially bearform, he is incapable of sharp stops and turns.
- Simple and mulish. Skallagrim is not dumb, but he has a simplistic view of the world and is stubborn as all hell.
- Heavily affected by heat. It makes him very sluggish and relaxed--not unhappy, but it severely impairs his ability to do anything useful, other than smith.
- Illiterate.
- Poor and bad with money. His home clans have little use for metal money, though they understand the concept, and use a bartering/favor system instead. Therefore, a Skallagrim with metal money is like a teenager with a credit card. ("What? I just give you this little piece of metal and you give me alcohol!?")
- Low cardio endurance, especially in hybrid form. He may be strong and can jog for a long time as a bear, but in his normal form, sprinting for more than a couple seconds will destroy him. It's all that weight he has to heave around. Don't even mention stairs.
- Makes prey animals uncomfortable. They may even get violent if forced into close quarters with him, since they will tend to regard him as a predator.
- Instincts. The same instincts that help him survive can also cause complications. They often confuse him in the presence of prey food he shouldn't be hunting, and, well, make him think of one thing only when he smells someone in heat.
- Overall low charisma. He's smelly, barbaric, and hasn't taken a brush to his beard in ever, so it's got Dio-knows-what stuck in it. Every meal he's ever eaten, probably. He is also a strange hybrid, troll/human, that might offend and/or scare some folks.
- The Madness: though this is a devastating weapon in battle, it can lead to him attacking allies and needing to be restrained when the battle is over... or fighting when he should be fleeing. He can also enter the madness in non-combat situations, such as when he's being provoked.
Still working on this! On sections that have both bear form and hybrid form, add those up separately! When it's done, anyway.
